Delivery Requirements
In this short guide we will outline some of the steps you need to take when delivering your container. The aim is to make the delivery process smoothly, fast and safe.
Firm surface for delivery during winter time.
We have to make sure that during the wintertime the unpaved ground is strong enough to hold the weight of the truck. Customer will have to call the trucking company or email to info.usa@allpurposeshippingcontainers.com to evaluate the possibility of delivery.
Enough space to maneuver
Make sure there is enough space for the truck to make wide turns, get between gates or other obstructions, and safely set up for delivery. Trucks make wide turns.
Space to deliver
The truck will be almost 10′ wide and will need at least 12″ on each side (12′ total width), as well as space to maneuver after the box is dropped (60′ for 20′ containers and 120′ for 40’s + space to turn and drive away).
Firm surface: no mud, wet grass, or snow
Soft surfaces such as mud or wet grass are unsuitable for deliveries. Due to the weight of a truck, there is a risk of the truck sinking and becoming stuck. If there is a risk of sinking, the driver may refuse delivery on site. Furthermore, it is important that and container must be placed on a horizontal surface.
Free from obstructions
Make sure there are no obstructions such as trees or power lines at the delivery site. The truck is 13’6″ before it tilts, and can be up to 16′ tall at it’s peak during delivery.
How does delivery work? Learn here…
Steel Works Shipping Containers arranges delivery on either “tilt-bed”, “Landoll ” or “roll-off” trailers. The reason these trucks are used is due to the size and weight of the container. Tilting the bed allows the driver to easily load and unload your containers, safely and efficiently.
All deliveries are outsourced to professional local trucking companies that have been in the business for years. Delivery should only take about 15 minutes once the driver arrives (as long as your site is ready). The customer and driver on site are responsible for all safety decisions (more info in our terms and conditions).
The driver will contact you by phone to select the delivery date.
